1990 MAN SG242 #2032
#2032 was part of the original 14-articulated bus order commissioned by the ARA, which features German VOV-style bodywork and was carefully assembled locally at Coachwork International in Takanini.

For nearly 30 years, #2032 was a familiar sight for commuters across the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast.
From the morning rush on the Northern Motorway to the late-night city runs, #2032 carried generations of Aucklanders before finally being retired by NZBus in September 2018.
The road from active service to preservation is rarely a straight line. Like its sister ship #2031, #2032 survived the "retirement rows" of the Swanson depot. While many of its contemporaries were lost to time, #2032 was recognized for its historical value.
Now safely under the care of the ARA Heritage Buses team, #2032 joins its siblings #2031 and #2034.
By keeping these sequential units together, we aren't just saving a single bus—we are preserving the complete story of the MAN SG242’s impact on Auckland.
Along with our friends at Coachways and other local supporters, we are dedicated to ensuring that #2032 remains a living, breathing part of our city’s transport legacy.
