This has been a few years in the planning, working with the wonderful team at Tranzit and working with Bernard Pavlovich to preserve something from the Pavlovich business so that its history can be kept alive, with the Pavlovich brand now a part of the greater Ritchies Group.
New in 1999, #459 served under the Urban Express banner until 2018, serving various runs throughout Auckland as Urban Express grew. In 2018, the bus was sold to Torlesse and operated as their #24 until it was part of the sale to Tranzit Group and renumbered #5242.
It served in Wellington and finally Tauranga between December 2022 and early 2026, when it became just a bit too old for the work it was doing, so was put up for disposal.
We were able to secure the vehicle after a few conversations, with the Tranzit Group helping us out greatly where they could.
You will see this vehicle get a makeover in the not-too-distant future, when we have had a chance to get her cleaned up and have had a chance to return her to her previous stomping grounds.
